FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions.

What is ClawSentinel?

A macOS menu bar utility that monitors your OpenClaw AI gateway and automatically recovers it when it crashes or misbehaves.

Do I need OpenClaw installed?

Yes. ClawSentinel is a companion tool for OpenClaw users — it monitors the OpenClaw gateway process. You'll need OpenClaw installed and running for ClawSentinel to have anything to watch. OpenClaw is free to download at openclaw.ai.

Is ClawSentinel on the Mac App Store?

No. ClawSentinel requires system-level access to monitor and restart processes, which is not permitted in the App Store sandbox. It's a direct download.

Does ClawSentinel send any data anywhere?

No. It communicates with localhost only. Nothing leaves your machine — no telemetry, no analytics, no crash reports.

What macOS versions are supported?

macOS 13 Ventura and later. Both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs are supported.

Is this a subscription?

No. $7.99 one-time purchase. No renewal, no tiers, no surprises.

What happens if auto-recovery fails?

ClawSentinel retries up to 3 times, then alerts you with the specific failure reason so you can take manual action. It won't loop indefinitely or silently give up.

Can I use ClawSentinel with a custom OpenClaw install path?

Yes. Go to Settings and override the CLI path. ClawSentinel will use your custom path instead of the default install locations.
